Nintendo-Switch

Why don’t you switch up your Switch and try these cool tricks?

So, you’ve got a Switch and you’re enjoying your favourite games, but did you know there’s more to Nintendo’s hand-held console than just playing games? Here are a few ideas to level up your Switch…

You can use Bluetooth on the Nintendo Switch

One of our favourite parts of the Switch is its portability. And when you’re out and about, you don’t want a cable in the way. Which is where Bluetooth comes in. The Nintendo Switch is compatible with the same Bluetooth headphones you use for music – you can even connect airpods. But if you prefer to use a gaming headset, the Switch is compatible with anything with Bluetooth or a standard headphone jack.

How do I connect to the Switch’s Bluetooth?

To connect your Bluetooth headphones to the Nintendo Switch, you simply put your headphones into pairing mode, then go into the System Settings on your Switch, and select ‘pair device’ under ‘Bluetooth Audio’. You could even connect a Bluetooth speaker if you wanted to really immerse yourself into the game.

How to capture videos and screenshots?

You don’t have to keep the experience all to yourself – whenever you see something cool in-game, just hit the Capture Button! You can even add text to screenshots and post them on social networks to share the fun with your friends!

When something cool happens while you’re playing compatible games, just press and hold the Capture Button until you hear a “beep” to save the previous 30 seconds of play! Once your clip is captured, you can trim it down to include the best bits, or even save individual screenshots from the footage, and then share to social networks.

You can also send screenshots and video clips from your Nintendo Switch directly to your smart device, allowing you to share them even further! Just select ‘Send to Smart Device’ from the Posting and Editing menu, then follow the on-screen instructions.

Create your own Mii..

Amazingly, while Nintendo hasn’t completely abandoned the Mii system for Switch, it does seem far less intricate compared to the overall console experience. But don’t let that stop you from creating one. After all, you might want to cruise around Mario Kart 8: Deluxe with your own cartoonish look staring down rivals as you pass following an epic battle. In System Settings, you can create a new Mii from a likeness, start from scratch, or copy one from an Amiibo. It’s fun, it only takes a few minutes, and you might get a good laugh out of it – especially if mates are around.

Find a lost controller

The little left and right controller nubs are kept purposefully small to ensure portability, but it also makes them harder to find should you misplace one somewhere. First off, don’t un-dock them unless you have to. But second, the Switch itself can help.

If your Joy-Con controller is still paired but currently out of sight, you can make it vibrate to help you locate it. Just hit the Controllers menu from the Switch’s main menu, hit “Find Controller,” and then tap a Joy-Con or Pro Controller to make it furiously vibrate. Hopefully that’ll get you back in the game right away.

Check out this little Easter Egg

When using the Nintendo Switch in handheld (portable) mode, the console acts a bit like a phone or tablet. The lock screen is part of this, and though it functions similarly to others on iOS or Android, it’s also got the Nintendo touch. There’s a bit of an Easter egg in here. Any of the buttons you press to unlock the screen make a standard sound, but only four of them play some cool and different sounds when pressed

You’d hear these if you clicked the left or right stick, the ZL, and the ZR button, and it’s different for each one. The famous click sound seen in all Switch trailers is also real, and your own console will sound like that when you connect the Joy-Con controllers to the tablet
