Looking to get spooky? From survival horror to action, these PS5 horror games will not only get you in the mood for Halloween but get your heart pumping too. Some will feature jump scares while others will explore psychological horror. Whatever the case, you can be assured you’re in for an unsettling, spooky experience.

Halloween approaches, and with it, the desire to actively seek out the things that go bump in the night. But with so much horror out there, what’s the best use of your time? What are the best PS5 horror games on Sony’s latest console?

Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil Village doesn’t have the scare-factor of predecessor Resident Evil 7, but with its classic structure that pits you against four different bad guys, and then throws you into one set piece after another, it certainly gets your heart racing.

With an eclectic cast of curious – but occasionally underdeveloped – villains, the true character of this sequel is the setting itself, which harbours countless secrets and some truly memorable moments. his horror classic even takes all your weapons away from you in one memorable scene, leaving you to skulk around a dingy house while “something” is on the loose

Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 thrusts players into a savaged world, overrun with all sorts of monstrosities. Thankfully the city of Villedor stands tall amongst all the other ruined cities. Players will have the opportunity to explore to their heart’s content, rescue survivors, scavenge for supplies, and fend off a wide variety of zombies in the most gruesome of ways.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes

You can play just about any game in the Dark Pictures Anthology and have a fun time – the whole series excels at dropping you in a playable horror movie and challenging you to try and make the best of it.

However, House of Ashes is the best so far – it’s more Aliens than Alien, with gun toting marines running afoul of a cursed Akkadian temple and struggling to deal with the monsters – and each other.

Play this in co-op with a pal and you’ll both experience a different game. Just don’t expect them to rescue you if something goes bump in the night.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water

You’ll see ghosts out of the corner of your eye and when you check, they’ll be gone. It’s oddly cozy and non-stressful for a horror game because your camera is such an efficient weapon and the combat it propagates is too action-packed to really let any dread sink in.
